The Platinum Card from American Express is a premium travel card. It offers an extensive portfolio of benefits for those who expect a lot for the money they spend. 

The card’s $695 annual fee is steep, but it unlocks a wide range of benefits that focus on travel. The same goes for entertainment, dining, retail and wellness. 

New cardholders can earn 80,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $6,000 within the first six months of card membership. 

You can earn 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on flights if you book them directly with airlines or with American Express Travel. This is valid on up to $500,000 spent per year. 

Additionally, you can earn 5 points per dollar on prepaid hotels booked with American Express Travel and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.

You also get cell phone protection and can enjoy $200 a year for airline incidental fees. Plus, $200 a year for hotel bookings, $200 a year for Uber. 

In addition, you get $300 a year for Equinox gym memberships, $100 a year at Saks Fifth Avenue and more.

The Platinum Card from American Express also offers unmatched access to airport lounges worldwide. This comprises the issuer’s own Centurion Lounges and International American Express lounges. 

Also, you have access to Delta Sky Clubs, Priority Pass Select lounges and lounges in the Plaza Premium, Escape and Airspace networks.
