U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa® Secured Card: how does it work?

Issued by U.S. Bank, the premise is to provide its cardholders a good purchasing power while helping them build their scores.

It has a Visa signature, and it works as a secured card. That means you’ll need to put down a refundable deposit of anywhere between $300 and $5,000, which will be your spending limit.

U.S. Bank then opens a savings account with that amount, which remains untouched and earns interest.

Once you graduate to an unsecured card or close your account in good standing, you can get your security deposit back.

The card has no annual fee and can truly help you rebuild your credit with responsible use. U.S. Bank reports all monthly payments to the three main credit bureaus in the country.

The variable APR on purchases and balance transfers is pretty high at 28.99%. However, if you pay your bill on time as it’s advised with secured cards, you won’t have to worry about that.
