Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicked off on Monday, June 6, on its campus in Cupertino, California.

Already on its first day, Apple unveiled a roster of new features and products. It includes new iMacs and an iMessage upgrade that it’s sure to make a lot of iPhone users happy.

That is because with the new iOS update, users will be able to edit and un-send undesired text messages.

Within the first minutes after an iMessage is sent, people will be able to choose between “edit” or “undo send” to modify their texts if they feel the need to.

Apple executive Craig Federighi, who accompanied Apple’s CEO Tim Cook on stage said that the new feature is by far one of the most requested upgrades to iMessage.

The possibility to undo and edit texts will be made available in the fall, when Apple will release the new version of its operating system, the iOS 16.

The first day of the WWDC conference also marked the reveal of a slate of upgrades and new features.

The upgraded version of one of Apple’s top products, the MacBook Air laptop, now has an updated camera and built-in speakers.

The slimmer version of all of Mac’s devices features a new and improved M2 chip and has the starting price of $1,199.

The new MacBook Pro 13-inch will feature the improved M2 chip as well.

Externally, the laptop looks exactly like the MacBook Pro, and it will cost approximately $1,299. Both new products will be available for purchase in July.

Much more than iMessage upgrades

Despite the popularity of its annual WWDC conference, Apple shares were flat on Monday, closing at $146,14 per share.

Regardless, the presentation went on with much enthusiasm as Apple announced its new privacy features.

The Apple Pay system is also going through upgrades, which will include a system that will break purchases into interest-free installments called “Apple Pay Later”.

Additionally, the tech giant will also revamp the iPhone lockscreen. With the new update, users will be able to create their own wallpapers and customize their lockscreens.

The feature will allow iPhone users to choose from custom fonts and add widgets for everything that interests them – from NBA game scores to the weather.

Notifications will also appear in a more discreet manner, rolling in through a small bar at the bottom of the screen.

There were also announcements about an upgrade to the Apple Watch, as well as the iPhone’s health and fitness program.

Mac’s operating system is also getting an overhaul, with a new version that features an enhancement in email tools and multitasking. Most of these iPhone features should roll out with the release of iOS 16.

Apple also displayed its new version of the “CarPlay” feature – an interactive system that pairs with in-vehicle built in systems.

The update will display information like car temperature and speed in addition to its traditional information, like music and maps.
