This card does not require credit history, and international students do not need to worry about having a Social Security number.

The issuer reports to the three major credit bureaus, which contribute to your credit evaluation.

Deserve® EDU Mastercard for Students: how does it work?

The Deserve® EDU Mastercard for Students is an excellent starter card for college students. It is especially good for international students because it does not require a Social Security number.

This $0-annual-fee card falls within Deserve’s underwriting standards. This means this card also does not require a credit history from its applicants. It also does not require any security deposit.

Applicants only need to be able to provide some financial documents. The issuer will use these documents as well as their own proprietary algorithm to determine applicants’ credit potential.

Factors that also help determine your ability to pay are your physical address, phone number, email address, and other U.S. bank account balances.

The way in which this information has changed over the years will help the issuer determine how easily it can reach you.

Despite Deserve’s best efforts to make things simple for students, the law requires that applicants under 21 must be able to prove that they can pay their bills. They also do not allow co-signers.

Counter to what most people would expect from an easy-to-get card like this, this credit card offers incentives like cash back and perks. Nothing fancy, but 1% cash back is still quite convenient.

The card has a credit limit of up to $5,000, and absentminded students will be happy when they are able to waive their first late fee.

Not to mention perks such as car rental collision waivers and cell phone protection insurance.
