Discovery Bank Gold Card: how does it work?
The Discovery Bank Gold Card is an excellent credit card for individuals earning between R100,000 and R350,000.00 per year.
It offers value for money with free comprehensive travel insurance and free cash deposit at local pick n pay supermarket.
The monthly credit facility fee is R35.00, and credit cardholders can boost their rewards earnings with Vitality Money Premium. This has a monthly subscription fee of R25.00.
As a Gold credit cardholder, you can get up to 40% back on healthy food purchases with Vitality Money Premium.
You can also get up to 10% back on Uber rides and fuel purchases made with the credit card.
The card has a competitive advantage over other credit cards as it offers free POS swipes for both domestic and international transactions.
Pick n Pay cash deposits, interbank transfers, returned debit orders, and denied transactions are also accepted.
You can earn rewards for good driving habits, eating well, and staying in shape, among other things.
You earn points for saving money that you cannot get from any other bank except Discovery Bank.
One disadvantage of the Discovery Bank Gold Card is that it charges an R65 fee if you make ATM withdrawals outside of the country. It also charges a 2.75% currency conversion rate.
In contrast, there are no currency conversion or withdrawal fees when using the Capitec Bank Gold Credit Card to make purchases abroad.
The Discovery Bank Gold Card has a total monthly account fee of R90. It includes the monthly account fee of R30, monthly Vitality Money premium of R25, and single credit facility fee of R35.
There are additional fees for secondary physical cards, additional virtual cards, Discovery Motor Card, additional credit card accounts, and cash withdrawals.
However, point-of-sale purchases are free, as are inter-account transfers and balance enquiries at ATMs.
