How to apply for Capitec home loan
Before diving right into the application process, let’s review the eligibility requirements for the Capitec home loan.

To be eligible for a Capitec home loan, you need to meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident;
- Be 18 years or older, earn a minimum monthly salary of R3,000;
- Have a good credit record.
You will also need to provide proof of income, proof of identity, and proof of residence. Additionally, the property you are purchasing must be located in South Africa and have a value of at least R100,000.
Apply online by filling up the form
Visit the Capitec website and navigate to the home loans page. You can find it by clicking on “Personal”, then on “Credit”, and finally, scroll down and click on “home loan”.
After that, click on “get a new home loan” and use the home loan calculator. That’ll give you an estimate of how much you can afford to borrow and what your monthly repayments will be.
Then, if you’re happy with the estimate, click “Apply Now”. Moving forward, on the next page, click on “start application. This will take you to the application form.
Then, fill in the application form with your personal and financial details, as well as the details of the property you want to buy.
Upload any necessary documentation, such as your ID, proof of income, and bank statements.
Submit and wait for your loan offer
Once you are done filling in the form, submit your application. Then you’ll need to wait for Capitec to review your application and assess your creditworthiness.
After that, if your application is approved, Capitec will make you an offer and you can choose to accept it or not.
If you accept the offer, Capitec will initiate the transfer of funds to the relevant parties and you can start the process of buying your new home.
