All you need is to be over the age of majority, have a valid checking or savings account and a debit or credit card to your name.

Unfortunately, no. Horizon Card Services stopped reporting monthly payments to the main credit bureaus in January of 2022. That means you won’t see an improvement on your credit rating by using this credit card. If your goal is credit building, there are other options available to you in the market.

The Merit Platinum Card is only available for purchases at the Horizon Outlet online store. Since this card is not a Visa or Mastercard, you cannot use it to purchase goods and services at other merchants. If you want a credit card that you can use at other locations, the Merit Platinum is not the best choice for you.
