Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card: how does it work?

The Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card is a simple rewards card. It focuses on U.S. supermarkets and U.S. gas station spending. 

Cardholders earn 3 points per dollar at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year), and 2 points per dollar on U.S. gas stations. You also earn 1 point per dollar on other eligible purchases. 

You will earn a 50% bonus each billing cycle if you use the card more than 30 times. 

The card has a $95 annual fee and offers secondary car rental damage and loss insurance and return protection. 

The welcome bonus is 15,000 Membership Rewards points after making $2,000 in purchases in the first 6 months of account opening. 

You can redeem Membership Rewards points for travel on AmexTravel.com, or transfer them to partner programs. You can also redeem them for gift cards, or used for charges on the card. 

The rewards potential for this card is $622 per year for the 70th percentile of wage earners based on average spending. 

The card has a 2.7% foreign transaction fee and a high penalty APR. The rewards program is flexible and has a low spending requirement for the welcome bonus.
