How to apply for PenFed Pathfinder® Rewards card

In this PenFed Pathfinder® Rewards Visa Signature® card application guide, you will learn how to get your card with access to travel perks.

  • Credit Score: Good – Excellent (690 – 850)
  • APR: Variable 17.99%
  • Annual Fee: $95
  • Fees: 3% balance transfer fee
  • Welcome bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days
  • Rewards: Earn 4X points on travel as a PenFed Honors Advantage Member, 3X points as a non-member, 1.5X points on all other purchases.

Not only does it allow you to earn points at a high rate even on everyday purchases, but it also offers a promo 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 12 months.

This is a card with top-notch perks which you usually find in cards that are much more expensive than this one.

PenFed Pathfinder® Rewards Visa Signature® card: how does it work?

In spite of its $95 annual fee, the PenFed Pathfinder® Rewards Visa Signature® card will waive this fee if you meet a few eligibility requirements which give you PenFed Honors Advantage Membership.

If you are a military service member or have a PenFed Access America checking account, you are eligible for the PenFed Honors Advantage program.

Not only does this give you access to a $0 annual fee, but also the higher 4X rate on travel purchases.

However, if you do not meet those requirements, this can still be a competitive card. With it you will get valuable travel protections, credits and benefits.

One of this card’s major advantages over its competitor travel cards is that you will earn rewards at a good rate even on non-travel-related purchases.

However, since this card is issued by a credit union, it requires you to be a credit union member in order to get it.

You can redeem your points for merchandise, gift cards, travel, and even charity donations. But keep in mind if you want to get the most value for your points, redeeming them for travel is the way to go.

While redeeming for gift cards and merchandise yields a value of 0.85 cents a point, redeeming them for travel averages a value of 1.7 cents a point.
